‘When I had no one, I had them’: Young moms reflects on an FSU program that became a lifeline

For years, the Young Parents Project has been a lifeline for some of Miami-Dade’s most vulnerable young mothers, offering intensive support to young parents who entered motherhood after experiencing abuse, neglect and foster care. For mothers like Danitra Grays, the program provided more than resources, it provided trusted adults who showed up when no one else did. But after losing its primary child welfare funding, the program that helped young mothers build safer, stronger futures is now coming to an end.
